About The Collective

We understand there is no single "right" answer. That's why we intentionally assemble a team from our collective of Associates and Community Advisors to best address your needs.

OUR VISION

A trusted collective of interdisciplinary experts for communities and organizations seeking to bridge critical research with practical and transformative action.
Amandeep K Singh, PhD

Our Story

SANGAT Consulting Collective was founded by Dr. Amandeep K. Singh to solve a persistent problem in community-centred work: the disconnect between academia, professional practice, and the lived personal experiences of community members.
Dr. Singh’s own life has been a practice of navigating multiple and simultaneous intersections of her identity and experiences as a Punjabi-Sikh and second-generation Canadian woman raised in a multi-generational household.  Her life has been a constant dialogue between culture and community, faith and academia, and tradition and social justice.
The Solution

SANGAT was created as the bridge. The name itself, drawn from her Punjabi-Sikh background, means “community” - the very force that can make a difference in fully understanding problems and finding solutions.

The Problem

Throughout her journey across Canada as a researcher, evaluator, and community practitioner she saw that evaluations lacked cultural context, research felt extractive and disconnected from the lived realities of communities, and community wisdom and experiences were undervalued.

We operate on a simple but radical principle: the personal, professional, & academic must be brought together.

We don't just study communities, we are part of them, and we must bring our whole selves. We don't just apply theory, we are grounded in the wisdom of those we serve. Our commitment is to honour the complex, messy, and multi-faceted story, connect the pieces, and build a more equitable world, together.
